Case Study - Mary

Mary is a young client of Home Service. She has been with our agency now for seven years, within this time we have supported Mary, allowing her to be able to live independently in her own home. Mary attends a day centre three days per week for people with young learning disabilities and also works two days a week in an office environment.

We meet Mary everyday to ensure that she arrives back safely at her flat and to support her with meal preparation. Mary is required to attend the hospital every 6 months which we are happy to support her with as well. The carers always remember that Mary wants to live independently so not to take her independence away from her and to only supervise where necessary.

During the summer Mary enjoys going for walks along the seafront with her carer and meeting her friends. As Mary has the support services going in once a day this enables her to live independently, still seeing her family but not relying on them all of the time.
