Staff Training

Pam Wilkes is Home Service’s in-house trainer. Pam has 20 years experience in the care sector and has worked with us for 15 years as a care worker, co-ordinator, assessor and trainer. Pam has completed a City & Guilds degree in teacher training (D32 & D33) as well as an A1 NVQ Assessor award. Throughout each year Pam attends teacher training update courses and attends standardisation meetings each month.

Before starting work our new care workers complete a 'Common Induction Standard'. This induction comprises of the following 8 standards set by Skills for Care:

  • Standard 1 Role of the health and social care worker
  • Standard 2 Personal development
  • Standard 3 Communicate effectively
  • Standard 4 Equality and Inclusion
  • Standard 5 Principles for implementing duty of care
  • Standard 6 Principles of safeguarding in health and social care
  • Standard 7 Person-centred support
  • Standard 8 Health and safety in an adult social care setting
